1st DAY: Regional Park of Maremma
Arrival in late morning in Alberese. Begin of services. Visit of Park of Maremma, a territory that extends for about 25 km along the Tuscany Coast, and it consists in several hills descending to the sea with sandy beaches and high cliffs, surrounded by swamps, pinewoods, cultivated fields and pastures. The group can admire the sweet part and at the same time the wild part. Lunch is on group’s leisure or in a restaurant with typical products (if reserved). In the afternoon, meeting with the guide (mandatory in the park) and departure by bus for the visit of the natural reserve. Along the road of the farms, that crossed the area of the pastures, it is possible to see the herds of cattle and Maremma horses, living in the wild. Arrived at the ”Pineta Granducale”, proceeding for the itinerary “Bocca d’Ombrone” and admiring the pinewood and the marshy area until the mouth of the river. In the late afternoon return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
2nd DAY: Magliano in Toscana, Scansano
After breakfast, meeting with the guide (if reserved) and departure to Magliano in Toscana. It is a small and charming village, which is located in a hill area in province of Grosseto, surrounded by the silver green of the old olive trees and the city walls with the war colour of the bricks. The city walls are between the most complete and interesting in Maremma, if not in Tuscany. The group can admire “Porta San Giovanni”, Church “San Martino”, “Palazzo di Checco il Bello”, “Palazzo dei Priori” and Church “San Giovanni Battista”. In the surrounding countryside there is the Romanic Church “San Bruzio”, a medieval settlement that represent one of the best examples of Romanic architecture style in Maremma. Proceeding to Scansano, ancient Etruscan-roman village, as evidenced by the archaeological site “Ghiaccioforte”, where the Aldobrandeschi built a castle, later used as convent. Lunch with typical menu in restaurant (if reserved). In the afternoon, possibility to visit a farm/wine shop to see the processing phases and production of wine, and eventually a tasting (if reserved) of famous wines, such as Morellino di Scansano. Return in the hotel, dinner and overnight.
3rd DAY: Grosseto
After breakfast, meeting with the guide (if reserved) and departure to Grosseto, whose historic centre has Medici walls of XVI century, surrounding the ancient part of the city. The walls are characterized by 6 angular bastions. The group can visit the Chatedral of “San Lorenzo”, “Porta Vecchia”, the “Monument of Leopoldo II di Lorena” and “Cassero Senese”. Lunch on group’s leisure or in restaurant (if reserved). End of services.
