Programma

1st DAY: Vicchio, Borgo San Lorenzo

Arrival of the group in late morning in Vicchio, hometown of Giotto. Begin of services. Nearby the village is possible to visit the house of Giotto and in the city centre is possible to visit the Museum of “Arte Sacra del Beato Angelico”. Transfer to Borgo San Lorenzo. Lunch is on group’s leisure or in a restaurant (if reserved). In the afternoon, meeting with the guide (if reserved) and visit of “Pieve di San Lorenzo”, from X century, where there is a “Madonna” painted by Giotto. Visit of the Museum “Chini”, in “Villa Pecori Guidi”, where is possible to admire its ceramic works, in Liberty Style. Transfer in the hotel in Firenze area, accommodation, dinner and overnight.

 

2nd DAY: Pratolino, Vaglia, San Piero A Sieve

After breakfast, meeting with the guide (if reserved) and departure to Pratolino. Along “Via Bolognese”, from Firenze, the road rise between different villas. Proceed to Vaglia, where can be possible to visit the Park of “Pratolino di Villa Demidoff”, that offers the possibility to have a wonderful open-air day, walking through lawns and admiring the sculptures, the buildings and the fountains in the park. To visit also the Convent “Monte Senario”, built on a mount which divides Val di Sieve from Val d’Arno, from where is possible to admire the Mugello. Transfer to “Pieve di San Piero in Vaglia”, built in VIII century, which together with “Pieve San Piero a Sieve” is one of the most ancient in Mugello area. Inside there are interesting works like a paint of XVI century, representing Jesus in Garden of Gethsemane and a wooden crucifix attributed to Giambologna. Lunch is on group’s leisure or in a restaurant (if reserved). In the afternoon transfer to San Piero a Sieve. Visit of “Pieve San Pietro” with the famous baptismal font and the wooden crucifix. It is possible to visit also the Convent “Bosco dei Frati”, buit by the Family Ubaldini and donated in 1212 to San Francesco, who made it one of the most important monasteries of his order. At the end of the visits, return in the hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

3rd DAY: Scarperia, Barberino del Mugello

After breakfast, meeting with the guide (if reserved) and transfer to Scarperia, famous for “cutting tools”, the production of knives, where is possible to admire “Palazzo dei Vicari”, which seems a miniature of “Palazzo Vecchio” in Firenze, seat of the Museum of Cutting Tools. Proceeding to Barberino del Mugello, famous for the circuit. The medieval village, was the centre of the commercial life of the valley. The group can visit “Villa di Cafaggiolo”, “Villa delle Maschere”, “Badia di Santa Maria di Vigesimo” and the Castle, or it is possible to visit the shopping centre outlet, some km far from the centre of Barberino. Lunch is on group’s leisure or in restaurant (if reserved). End of services.
