1st Day: In the late morning, the group will arrive at the Port of Piombino. Services will start. The boarding pass for the ferry has to be picked up at the Ticket Office of the Moby Lines at the Marine Office. Then the boarding process will start for the bus and the passengers for the Isle of Elba. After approx. one hour the ferry will arrive in Portoferraio. After leaving the ferry, an assistant from our office will be at the port of arrival to deliver the documents necessary during your stay. Lunch is on your own leisure. In the early afternoon, meeting with the Trekking guide and transfer to Marciana, little town on the edge of "Monte Capanne”. At the medieval village known by the narrow passages to the Fort called “Fortezza Pisana” to walk on the path called “Via Crucis” which leads to the sanctuary of the “Madonna del Monte” (630 ASL). From there the view of the island and its surroundings is spectacular. The group will continue for “Masso dell'Aquila”. Weather permitting, from this location, it is possible to see Corsica and the Isle of Capraia. The walk continues to the villages of Marciana and Chiessi. Here there are typical Mediterranean plants and flowers to be seen. Chiessi is a little marine village with typical white houses. Transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
2nd Day: After breakfast, transfer to Portoferraio. Transfer by motorboat to the isle of Pianosa. After ca. 45 minutes the group will arrive on the island to visit the now not populated village. Then the group will walk to the internal part of the village where abandoned agricultural structures can be found. It is quite possible to find wild pheasants and red partridges introduced to the island when it was privately owned by Tuscan's Grand Duke. While admiring the beautiful parts of this island, a path will reach the castle of “Marchese” with its elegant halls that have probably romantic stories to tell. Continuing to the south west coast “della botte” will be reached where the ancient roman tubs and water supplies are demonstrated. The excursion continues along the beautiful coast of Pianosa where it's possible to see numerous marine birds nest. Then continuing the walk to the internal side of the island surrounding by great smells typical of the Mediterranean sea and having the feeling to be able to reach the islands of Elba and Corsica by foot, the group reach “Cala Giovanna”. Lunch is on your own leisure or lunch in restaurant (if reserved). After visiting the ancient pieces of the Roman Villa “Agrippa Postumo” grandchild of Augusto Ottaviano the first one to be exiled of Pianosa, the excursion ends on the only beach where it is allowed to swim on the island of Pianosa. If time permitting, the Fort “Teglia”, can be visited, which was constructed by Napoleon to try to organize the island for the agricolture in the 1800. At the end of the excursion, the group returns to Marina di Campo. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
3rd Day: After breakfast, meeting with the trekking guide and transferring to Rio Marina for an excursion at the internal of the abandoned mine. Leaving for the “Concessionaria” Palace “il Burò” and crossing the old miner village where it is possible to see how the walls of their homes had been pasted together with sand and minerals making them shiny. Continuing the colourful alleys the group will reach the “cantiere di Vigneria” which will pass the “laveria” jewel of the archaeological industry which was recently recuperated and the “cantiere bacino” which is a natural museum were just bloomed flowers and minerals right from the ground can be picked. In the afternoon, the group continues to the internal part of the mine until the Valley of “Giove” were the cultivation of big steps form a theatre. After the “cantiere di Valle Giove” the group reaches the point of “Portello”. After ca. 3 km along the coast line looking over the sea the group will arrive at the “cantiere delle Conche” . The group will then go to the centre of Rio Marina which, if the group requests it, a visit of the Museum and the minerals on Elba can be arranged. Lunch is on your own leisure. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
4th Day: After breakfast, meeting with the trekking guide and leave for Porto Azzurro to the Valley of “Monserrato” which is 120 meter above sea level and were a little church has it's place. Its high mountain and various colours go from okra to red and the path allows the group to visit the “Monte Castello” from here we can see the town of Porto Azzurro. The highest altitude of the east part of the island: “Cima del Monte” (516 mt. asl). The View is majestic. Returning to Porto Azzurro through a little valley. Lunch is on your own leisure or lunch in restaurant (if reserved).In the afternoon transfer to Portoferraio. After the boarding process for Piombino, services are finished.
