1st DAY: Cagliari

Arrival of the group in Cagliari in the morning and meeting with the guide (if reserved). Visit of the historic centre of Cagliari, with bastions and towers of the Pisan period. Visit of the Archaeological Museum, with the figurative “bronzetti” of the Nuragic period, which are considered the highest expression of the stylized art of prehistory; visit of the Cathedral of Santa Maria, an important example of architectural eclecticism. Transfer to the pre-selected hotel and lunch in a restaurant (if reserved). In the afternoon, visit of the sanctuary “Nostra Signora di Bonaria”, patroness of Sardinia; “Monte Urpinu”, one of the hills on which lies the city, from where you can admire the many districts, the adjacent ponds, the ancient salt pans and the Gulf “degli Angeli”. The beautiful beach “Poetto", ca. 10 km long, with a view on the lagoon of Molentargius, where the pink flamingos have nested for the first time in Italy. At the end of the visits, a walk along “Via Roma”, the most suggestive of Cagliari. Dinner in an old house Campidanese at the beginning of the town where the group can taste the "porcetto allo spiedo" (roasted pig) and the "malloreddus" with a folkloristic show that includes music and dances from this region. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

2nd DAY: Little Green Train

After breakfast, meeting with the guide (if reserved) and transfer to Mandas. Departure for the excursion with the "little green train" (3 and a half hours ca.) that follows the itinerary of the great travellers of the '800 century which can be followed by train due to the natural and uncontaminated areas. It is considered the most beautiful railway line in the world. The railway crosses the hills of Sarcidano, the valley of Flumendosa, and arrives until the slopes of the mountains of Gennargentu. After the station of Esterzili, the train reaches the plateau of Sadali, whose historic centre is characteristic and well preserved. Lunch in a typical restaurant in Sadali. In the afternoon, return to the hotel in Cagliari for dinner and an overnight stay.

3rd DAY: Oristano, Nuoro

After breakfast, meeting with the guide (if reserved) and departure to Oristano. Short stop in Tharros, the biggest Punic-Roman city in the Mediterranean Sea, founded in VIII century B.C. Its remains are in the beautiful natural setting of the promontory of San Marco. Visit of the Paleochristian Church “San Giovanni del Sinis”. Lunch in restaurant in the area of Oristano with typical main courses such as: burrita, culurgiones and fish soup. Additionally, the group can taste "Vernaccia", wine for dessert produced in this area. In the afternoon transfer to Nuoro, where the group can visit the Museum “Del costume e delle Tradizioni”. Possibility to visit the house of the writer Grazia Deledda, Nobel Prize for Literature, and the Church “Della Solitudine”, where is the tomb of the writer. Transfer to an hotel in Orosei, dinner and overnight stay.

4th DAY: Dorgali, Orgosolo

After breakfast, meeting with the guide (if reserved) and departure for a trip in Dorgali area, famous centre of east Barbagia, to visit the “Tomba dei Giganti” of S’Ena ‘e Thomes, which is one of the most representatives’ monuments of the Nuraghi civility of 1200 BC. It consists of a burial corridor and an exedra formed by large granite stones arranged in cut. Transfer to Ispinigoli for the visit of the “Grotta delle Vergini”. A spectacular staircase descends among the stalactites, until the end of the chasm. In the centre of the chasm, there is a huge column 38 meters high, which seems to support the vault of the great hall. By the historical side, with the discovery of rings, jewellery and solar symbols led to think about human sacrifices. At the end, a short walk in Dorgali, famous for the craftsmanship. Continuing to Orgosolo for a typical lunch with the shepherds (local aged ricotta, lamb and pig with red wine). In the early afternoon visit of the local and famous "Murales". At the end of the tour, transfer to the port to get the ferry. End of services.
